Tours & Attractions More than 20 wineries dot the Grand Valley, the birthplace and heart of Colorado's Wine Country. Mild winters, warm sunny days and cool evening breezes along the Colorado River nurture vineyards, where friendly tasting-room staffers welcome visitors to sample an array of award-winning wines. Tours led by owners or winemakers can easily be arranged. Several wineries are located along major highways, or follow a tour along rural roads to distinctive properties. Unlike many of their California cousins, there's no charge for tastings at most wineries here. Arrange for a group lunch at Two Rivers Winery and Chateau. Drivers rejoiced with the opening of Riverside Parkway in August. The seven-mile route relieves congestion at intersections near downtown and Mesa Mall, the region's largest shopping center. Traffic now moves freely along the city's southern corridor, which before was dependent on busier U.S. Highways 6 and 50. And Once You're Here Access to Grand Junction's historic downtown is quick and convenient as well.
